Re: [NOTES] Multi Core support

Just a note, RT 7 in trunk is now SMP-able, it has been demonstrated on RP2040.

Re: Porting ChibiOS to ESP32

The original poster went silent so it is safe to assume there has been no progress. A port is not out of question but we have finite bandwidth and there are other things ongoing. BTW, we recently ported RT to the dual core RP2040, the OS now is able to support SMP architectures, ESP32 would be a goo...

Re: chprintf() show special values (float)

Math.h is not a problem, including an header does not increase code size in itself.

Doing any operation in double precision would increase code size because double precision code would be linked from math libraries.

Re: chprintf() show special values (float)

The above code does not look portable, it makes assumptions on the FP format being used.

Re: chprintf() show special values (float)

The issue would be bringing in 64-bits math from libraries on small targets, chprintf() is not meant to be fully compliant, FP support is already an "extra".

Re: Which board .cfg file for STM32G474RE-NUCLEO64?

Hi,

Apparently it is missing the latest Windows ChibiStudio, it is present in the Linux one.

Use the attached file.

Re: Does optimization for GDB work at all in GCC 9.2.1?

-Og disables all optimizations that impact "debug experience quality" and only those
-O0 disables all optimizations, all of them

Re: Does optimization for GDB work at all in GCC 9.2.1?

Hi,

As far I know debugging information do not contribute to the binary image size, it is metadata used by the debugger.

Re: CAN communication using STM32F4-Disc's external header

Yes, keep wiring short and be careful to program GPIOs for CAN. In the CAN demo you need to remove the loopback option from the configuration structure and it should work almost as-is. Note the all configurations come straight from the STM32 Reference Manual, make sure to read about the settings in ...

Re: CAN communication using STM32F4-Disc's external header

Hi,

The F4 discovery board does not have CAN drivers, how are you planning to connect it?

You should get a board with CAN drivers and use that for your experimentation.
