I think I had it wrong
.bank_size = 1024U refers the size of a bank and not the size of a page on the chip. Sorry my confusion.

MFS Limited by page size?
I have the following
const MFSConfig mfscfg1 = {
.flashp = (BaseFlash *) &EFLD1,
.erased = 0xFFFFFFFFU,
.bank_size = 1024U,
.bank0_start = 64U,
.bank0_sectors = 32U,
.bank1_start = (64U + 32U),
.bank1_sectors = 32U,
};
Maybe I misunderstand. To me this would ...

chThdTerminate still found in cpp wrapper
chThdTerminate is still wrapped int the cpp wrapper. As this is deprecated it should be removed.
It is also found in the arm cmsis_os.c

chThdSleepMilliseconds in main possible?
I'm trying nill out and if I call chThdSleepMilliseconds(250); in main it throws an unhandled excpetion, yet if I move the code into another thread and do not sleep in main I have no issue.
Any ideas?

GNU 4.9 2014q4 SMT32F4 ChibiOS 3.0 supported?
Is anyone having success with this compiler?
I can compile the exact same project using the older 4.7 2014q2 and my project works but using this new version it works for a few seconds the ends up in the unhanded exception handler.
Are there some other compiler options that I should add beyond ...

lwip bindings and pppos
I have been settings the lwip bindings tu use pppos.
pppos needs support for sys_jiffies which is not included in the current sys_arch.c. Below is an example implementation.
Also when lwip exits its pppThread the way both sys_arch.c and ppp.c in lwip are written the threads resources stick around ...

Re: Problem using USB-Serial on STM32F407
I have success using the demo specific for that board. Take a look at ARMCM4-STM32F407-DISCOVERY-MEMS demo project.
I can't tell from your description how you have set up your project, but the basing your project off this demo project should almost guarantee you success with that board.

Re: restart thread
I found my issue. The thread was restarting as expected as I was checking within it if it should terminate.
I had another condition that was terminating unexpectedly the thread after restart.
Thank you for your response
