Hello Giovanni
To be honest. Your reply did not make any sense to me in the beginning, but got it now.
Each line EXTConfig refers to a port number and you then set which register it has to refer to ( GPIOA or GPIOC ).
The button in the example is on port 0and therefore defined on the first line ...

Question regarding EXT driver for F1xx
Hello fellow chibies
I am in a situation where I can to respond to a pulse that is very short, around 3 microseconds wide.
An interrupt is necessary and I stumbled across the EXT driver.
In the testhal folder there is a simple example but what I don't understand.
Edit.
What I dont understand ...

Re: Setting the speed of GPIO ports on F10x
Hello Giovanni
Seems like the easiest thing to do.
But is it not possible to run without the tickless mode?
Even with 16 bit resolution I can not run without the tickless mode.
/**
* @brief System time counter resolution.
* @note Allowed values are 16 or 32 bits.
*/
#define CH_CFG ...

Re: Setting the speed of GPIO ports on F10x
Hello Giovanni
Thanks for the help so far. I am almost finished but after changing the timer changes I cant make a long timeout. Is it due to the resolution?
My code is:
static THD_FUNCTION(rc1Thread, arg)
{
(void)arg;
chRegSetThreadName("RC1 thread");
//systime_t rc1Rate;
palClearPad ...

Re: Setting the speed of GPIO ports on F10x
Hello Giovanni
A open drain output did the trick, sort of. My problem now is the sleeping times. Somehow I can not make it go lower than 2 ms.
If I remove the sleeps then it turns into pure noise around 0V.
while (true) {
palClearPad(GPIOA, GPIOA_RC1);
chThdSleepMicroseconds(20);
palSetPad ...

Re: Setting the speed of GPIO ports on F10x
Hello Giovanni
Sounds great. Definitely something we would consider.
I have one final problem with my program, in regards to my one pin I switch from input to output and back again.
With a multi-meter I can confirm that the pin is set LOW at the beginning of the thread.

Re: Setting the speed of GPIO ports on F10x
Hello Giovanni
That STM32F3 looks very promising. The DSP instructions are a very nice addition to STM32 family.
I can also find various papers saying the F3 has a new design on various components but I cant find any details on exactly what the differences are.
Do you know any resources ...

Re: Setting the speed of GPIO ports on F10x
Any easy way to switch to GPIOv2 or would that also pose some problems?
Alternatively I could just update the GPIOv1 with the defines I need.

Re: Setting the speed of GPIO ports on F10x
Goodmorning Giovanni
Is this a limitation of the STM32F10x or the PAL driver?
If the STM32F10x support changing the a GPIO port to output at runtime and its slew rate I cant see why the PAL driver doesnt support it.
I am already using the board.h file but the system has to periodically change ...

Re: Setting the speed of GPIO ports on F10x
Damn, then I must gotten something mixed up in the process.
Recalled that one of our senior developers talked about problems with the SPI due to too low slew rate. Must have been a different chip then.
Edit:
What about table 20 and 21 on page 161 in the reference manual?
