Re: STM32F303k8 and ADC2/DMA2

That works for me. Thanks for your help!

Re: STM32F303k8 and ADC2/DMA2

I think in that case the problem is that DMA1/channel 2 isn't listed as a valid option for ADC2, and so won't compile for that setting. I think that's the only other option:

../../../os/hal/ports/STM32/LLD/ADCv3/adc_lld.h:512:2: error: #error "invalid DMA stream associated to ADC2"
#error ...

STM32F303k8 and ADC2/DMA2

If I enable ADC2 in mcuconf.h and add adcStart(&ADCD2, NULL) into main in the demo, the demo crashes. If I do the same with ADC1, then everything keeps running.

It looks like that's because as far as stm32_registry.h, STM32F303x8 has no DMA2.

Is that reasonable? Do I just need to add values for it ...

Clang/LLVM

It seems to be the case that clang on any platform can generate code for any target platform supported by LLVM. That means that of you install clang from your favourite Linux distribution, you will have a cross compiler for cortex-m3, for example.

It seems to me that using that is vastly simpler ...

Re: Chibios based runtime for Rust

I'm not sure what SDRAM has to do with it: GC has reached the point where you can guarantee you give up no more than half your memory, and half your CPU to achieve a maximum pauses of 250us. This is in the realm of real time, and its probably possible to do much better with Rust. Certainly people ...

Re: Chibios based runtime for Rust

In memory, Rust promises it's record types are bit compatible with C on that platform - that means any C data structure has a Rust equivalent. How many pointers there are is up to you. Rust has a neat safe version of C's & to create references to things which aren't managed objects: the compiler ...

Re: Chibios based runtime for Rust

I'm not interested in debating the benefits of Rust over C++: these forums are likely to have a large confirmation bias in a particular direction, but I it's worth pointing out:

- the memory management in Rust is optional, and the project I linked to doesn't provide it.
- there are no intrinsic ...

Chibios based runtime for Rust

There's an existing project which targets a board I have:

https://github.com/neykov/armboot

But it's approach is deprecated now - rust has built in support for null runtime environments. And anyway, I'd rather not start from scratch.

Is anyone thinking about doing this?

Cheers

Re: New STM32F3 devices (Cortex-M4)

Yes - updated summon arm toolchain and re-installed, now it works fine. Thanks.

Re: New STM32F3 devices (Cortex-M4)

I've built that project, and flashed it onto the board using openocd. When I connect minicom, I see the shell prompt, but when I press enter, the flashing led stops flashing and nothing else happens :(.

I'm using the latest from svn. Should I expect this to work at the moment?
