USB Serial Driver – detect consumer on the other end?
In my current project I'm quite successfully using the USB Serial Driver; apart from using it for a shell the system also emits various log messages. Now as long as there's a program consuming the transmitted bytes on the other ends everything is well. But it nothing reads from the USB Serial port ...

Re: lwIP DHCP with static IP fallback
Okay, after spending an afternoon diving into the lwIP sources I got this thing done. As it turns out it's the easiest to place the static IP fallback logic into the lwIP DHCP client code itself; since there's a tight interaction between DHCP and AutoIP code in lwIP it's the only sane way to do ...

lwIP DHCP with static IP fallback
Okay, this is not so much a ChibiOS and much more a lwIP related question. OTOH I'd like to use ChibiOS primitives (events, messages, etc.) if such is accounted for. Unfortunately lwIP documentation is between far and few and it's really hard to distill how things are to be done from the lwIP ...

Trying to understand SPI and USART DMA transfer code
In the STM32 spi driver code one can find for example spi_lld_send :
void spi_lld_send(SPIDriver *spip, size_t n, const void *txbuf) {
dmaStreamSetMemory0(spip->dmarx, &dummyrx);
dmaStreamSetTransactionSize(spip->dmarx, n);
dmaStreamSetMode(spip->dmarx, spip->rxdmamode);
dmaStreamSetMemory0 ...

Re: Enabling PAL subsystem freezes system and JTAG
Might I ask what you're doing with the display and if you're using ChibiOS/GFX? </offtopic>
The whole thing will be controlling a tunable laser system. Right know we're evaluating ChibiOS and will obtain a commercial licence if we settle for it.
I did look at ChibiOS/GFX, but maybe I'll roll ...

Re: Enabling PAL subsystem freezes system and JTAG
Good to hear that you could "solve" your issue
~ Tectu
Thanks to your initial advice I also got the remaining issues solved. It turned out the PCB designer forgot to connect the PHY oscillator with the supply plane. No clock, no working PHY
The last thing wrong was the default state of the ...

Re: [SOLVED] Enabling PAL subsystem freezes system and JTAG
Technically it should be possible to use JTAG without TRST. Also I'm currently using the JTAG without TRST on this board. Though it might of course be, that the STM32 imposes certain constraints on the combination of AF bits being set.
So in the meantime I'm not using the SPI on this board, it's ...

Re: Enabling PAL subsystem freezes system and JTAG
In the meantime I got a bit further, too. The PCB designer connected SPI1_MISO/MOSI to PB4/5 of which PB4 is also JTAG_TRST. I did configure PB4 as SPI AF=5, and that freezes the system. If I configure for JTAG AF=0 with Pull-Up then I get past the PAL configuration…

Re: Enabling PAL subsystem freezes system and JTAG
Hi,
Probably in your board.h you change the state of the JTAG-related pins, this is why it freezes during initialization, make sure to leave all the JTAG-related pins to their reset state as described in the reference manual.

Thanks. I'll try that tomorrow, when I'm back in the lab.
