Hello,
I would like to ask for recommendations of reasonably priced development boards for spc56x.
Also, are there any other power mcu's which are likely to supported by chibios in near future?

Re: Development board
Hi,
There is the SPC560-Discovery which is reasonably priced and includes the debugger however it mounts a small device. More boards are being introduced with more powerful devices but I am not sure about real availability:
http://www.st.com/stonline/stappl/produ ... rcetype=HW
The ChibiOS PPC kernel port supports e200z cores regardless the vendor. More PowerPC cores could be added.
The SPC5 HAL is maintained and sponsored by ST itself, it is included in the SPC5Studio toolchain, so it is unlikely it will ever support non-ST devices.

Re: Development board
Giovanni, thank you for the anwser.
I'm thinking about buying SPC56B-Discovery, however, I wonder if I'll have to use PLS software to use the onboard JTAG or if is possible to program (and debug) the mcu with OpenOCD or similar.
Otherwise, the whole family looks very attractive, with the exception of lack of development boards

Re: Development board
You need the PLS software but it is VERY good and free up to 128K. A GDB server would be nice, somebody proposed that on the OpenOCD mailing list but it is not being developed AFAIK.

The lowest cost that I know of is from Freescale, which can be purchased for $25 USD. TRK-USB-MPC5602P, TRK-USB-MPC5604B and TRK-USB-MPC5643L is a good start, plugs into USB port. It has standard JTAG port so can be used other software tool chains. Parts are identical to ST line.

Re: Development board
TRK-MPC5634M board from Freescale contains MPC5634M chip which is a member of the MPC563xM family which is same thing as SPC563M. Has anyone launched ChibiOS on this board?

Re: Development board
You just have to create board files like for the STM32, the MCU is exactly the same.
