Chibios HAL focus is on stm32 right? Does it look like very few stm32 chips would be available to enthusiasts in the next 6-12 months?
Shall we panic or else?

Re: ST chip shortage
I think there is no need to panic, ST has its own fabs. I will ask about this shortage...

Re: ST chip shortage
They confirmed there are delays for some families, those built in TMSC (40nm).

Re: ST chip shortage
So h7 is in scary territory.
In USA there are two huge distributors - digikey and mouser. See how unhealthy is STM32F427IGT6 availability
https://octopart.com/search?q=STM32F427 ... SD&specs=0
144 pin case is a bit better https://octopart.com/search?q=STM32F429 ... SD&specs=0 but _something_ is clearly going on.

F4 and F7 are 90nm but it looks like a bit of availability shortage does not it?

Re: ST chip shortage
This is issue is real, ST like alot of manufactures are having major supply issues.
If you don't have confirmed orders for your annual usage for 2022, you will not get anything......

Re: ST chip shortage
I think it depends a bit on the parts you want (and how many).
I've been looking at the small package G0 parts (TSSOP-20, mostly) for a new project, and Mouser have stock of some, and deliveries expected before the end of the year on most others.
Unlike TI, where I have orders, placed in April, due next August!
And thats for 100-off to 250-off volume levels.
But Tabulous' point is well made; don't rely on getting parts quickly.
