Viper Open Beta

Postby GiacomoB » Wed Jun 24, 2015 3:52 pm

The Viper Team is proud to announce the first public release of Viper!

VIPER (Viper Is Python Embedded in Realtime) is an easy to use, professional development suite for the cross-platform and high level design of interactive objects, artistic installations, and internet/cloud connected devices.

The core of Viper is the Viper Virtual Machine. Viper VM has been developed on top of ChibiOS in order to bring Python on the embedded world with support for multi-thread. With Viper VM it is possible to develop Python scripts that are virtually independent by the selected hardware platform allowing an high reusability and integration of the code.

Viper can be easily ported to many ARM Cortex M micro-controllers and it already supports famous boards such as ST Nucleo, Particle Core, Photon and Arduino Due.

Viper can be downloaded from the official website

There is also a dedicated community forum (

For everything related to the integration of ChibiOS and Viper you can post in this forum.

Many thanks to Giovanni for hosting us, and for the awesome ChibiOS!

As a Python 3 and ChibiOS lover, it looks like this project is going to be HUGE! 8-)
I'm looking forward to try the first beta in my spare time ;)
