Using the LCD on the STM32F429I-DISCO

Post by pommzorz »

Hi everybody!

I've recently bought a new STM32F429I discovery board because the specs made me dream (and the very low price! :) ) I've seen here http://forum.chibios.org/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=979 that a successful port of chibiOS has been made (great job!), and i wanted to know how to use the onboard LCD (eventually with the st firmware). I've tried to add a few files of the st firmware, but as more and more file compiles, they require dependancies and so on, and so i thought that was not a good idea.

Did anyone port that code yet, or has any advice/code that would enable me to start/stop the LCD and access pixel by pixel? I tried to look into the st lib but before porting anything myself I wanted to know if anyone had made that work before!

(Plus, i cant't really understand the AFRL in the STM32f4 family, i was a bit used to the STM32F1 and that was definitely simpler... This is my secondary problem... :) )

Thanks! :)

Somebody just did it.
I didn't had time myself so far but as the setPixel() routine works, it would be no problem to write the µGFX board file (in case of you're going to use that). The driver itself already exists so it would be just a matter of pin-mapping and calling the HAL.

The LTDC driver seems stable for now, but I haven't tested all of the features yet (I only need a fullscreen frame buffer for now). Currently, I'm working on the DMA2D (Chrom-Art 2D accelerator) driver, which will eventually unleash its full power combined with ChibiOS :o
