I'm currently trying to set up some template project in an IDE and I'm a bit confused when it comes to the STM32 HAL. Some peripheral have two HAL versions (Like GPIO, SPI, I2C etc). Where do I know from which one I want? When I try to compile (ChibiOS/RT 2.6.3) it looks like some need version 2 (like GPIOv2) but some require version 1 (like SPI). Is there any pattern? Why are there multiple versions anyway?
I'm targetting an STM32F407VGT.

It is related to the various versions of peripherals present in the STM32 sub-families. See the .mk for the correct driver to use.
