CDC ACM under Windows.

Post by rew »

Hi,
Simple question for many of you I hope...

I have an application where my chibios-STM32 chip runs the virtual com port driver. Under Linux I connect the board and I get a /dev/ttyACMx .

Apparently it is not this simple under Windows. What do I tell the Windows users?

You should see a virtual com port in the device manager, the number of COM port is different from system to system.

It comes up automatically just like on Linux? That's great! At least it's different from what happened in the past.....

You need the ST-Link VCOM driver, Windows does not accept it without a driver even if it is a normal CDC...

windows 10 have generic USB CDC driver, you don't have to use any 3rd party drivers, all working "from the box"
