hi,
Usually adding members of the same sub-family is matter of hours: update CMSIS headers and add an entry to the registry, then a demo.
Hardware is required.

Re: STM32L4 support
alex31 wrote:Hello,
Since spring of 2016, there is a new stm32L432 family, very small package (32 pins), a lot less peripherals, but the same
CM4 core with FPU than other L4.
This chip seems well suited to do advanced motor control (energy efficiency, fast adc, lot of processing power, i2c, CAN, usb, serial interface, complemented timer output)
Only one ADC, but it permits 5Ms/s, will it be accessible with the same ADC driver than other L4 ?
For the one who knows well STM chips, does the portage only consists of writing specific stm32_registry.h, or is there new drivers to be written due to new specific L432 peripherals ?
also, stm32L432 seems too different from other L4 to be integrated in existing STM32L4xx/stm32_registry.h, probably there is need for a new STM32L4xx directory ?
Should i estimate the portage duration in days or in weeks?
The short answer - it depends how similar the new L432 is to existing stuff. Without looking at the details I'd guess days, no more than a week, from experience. However you've already stated you think it's different enough to *not* fit in with the current STM32L4xx/stm32_registry.h so I could be way off.
I'll take a peek - I have the Nucleo-L432 arriving soon.
Paul.

Nice, i will order some asap to explore it from my side.
I have began to read reference manuel, and perhaps it's not so different. All peripherals look the same, there is only less instance of each peripheral than other L4, the linker script will be slightly different because of less flash/ram. But finally, giovanni is right, it should be done in a day. I will be able to spend time on this at the end of october.

Re: STM32L4 support
I am waiting for this new Nucleo too. I will add related support when I'll get the hardware.
Ciao.

Re: STM32L4 support
Sorry Alex,
I wasted the whole weekend on PLAY Embedded.
I will keep my promise with a little delay.

Re: STM32L4 support
Hi,
now STM32L432 is supported. Code is on trunk.
Note that you need to update OpenOCD too. I have built a new version few hours ago and you can find it on download page of playembedded.org and in a topic of the forum about openocd.

Re: STM32L4 support
Unlike STM32L476, STM32L432 has USB FS instead of OTG.
I have updated the port in order to make an STM32L432-USB_CDC demo successfully compiled. Anyway, I haven't hardware to test it. If someone is able to test it I am attaching the demo. It should be imported into the workspace_trunk.

Re: STM32L4 support
Great !
Thanks a lot for this support. I should receive my devboard tomorrow, so i can test it.
For the USB-CDC demo, what hardware is needed, just a cable with usb host plug a one end and free pins on the other end to connect to
gnd, and data- & data+ on the pins of the devboard ? If it's all what is needed, i can test it.
