hi @all
I want to use ChibiOs with LWIP extention.
I am testing ARMCM4-STM32F407-LWIP demo on the olimex board => runs fine
Now I want to develope my own board. I want to use a davicom Phy DM9161.
I can compile the ARMCM4-STM32F407-LWIP demo with
#define BOARD_PHY_ID MII_DM9161_ID in board.h
1.)I want to know if it realiy runs wit the Davicom Chip?
I have problems to find the low-level driver for the Phy in the demo source (included KS8721).
2.)Where ist the hardware driver location in the demo ?
On the new Discovery STM -Base Board STM32F4DIS-BB
http://www.element14.com/community/docs ... schematics
there is a LAN8720 SMC-chip (small size and pinout) on the base-board.
3.)Have anybody running this chip (or LAN8710) , does it run with STM32F4DIS-BB ?
I hope for answer
thank you

Re: LWIP ethernet low level-driver
Hi,
The driver should work with any kind of PHY assuming you configure correctly the PHY ID in you board file. Possible source of problems are often incorrect settings of I/O pins related to PHY or PHY clock issues.
I didn't use one of those MB yet, it is possible somebody else already tested it and will post here.

Re: LWIP ethernet low level-driver
Lemberger,
Did you end up getting the base board and trying out the LAN8720A? I'm curious if I should look at the LAN8720A or stick with the KSZ8721 or DP83848.
Reviewing the data sheets, the extended register definitions are quite different, so it's probably a couple-hour job to tweak the existing code.
Thanks,
Eric

Re: LWIP ethernet low level-driver
Reviewing the current line of Ethernet PHY's, it looks like Micrel's KSZ8081RNA is probably a better fit and it's compatible with the KS8721 from a register standpoint (along with a few additions).
