Success! It does seem that CH_FAST_IRQ_HANDLER is incompatible with HAL_USE_EXT, which is fine, but I had been missing the SYSCFG->EXTICR register.

Sorry for delay but I have been traveling during past week.

That is perfectly possible, you may check "real" names in the map file.
