Not sure, the risk is to define an API then discover that the next implementation will require changes or be not compatible entirely with the concept. I suggest that you create an STM32-specific driver, later we may think to an abstract model.

But when its only STM32 specific, i will just copy the hal functions and use them. May be there is more intrest in this peripheral later and i am faster up an running with my board.

i have just written the register setup for my application. The setup is not that difficult.
