The critical thing here is to have the board configuration file highlighted (selected) in the Project Explorer window when you click on "Generate Files from Configuration Data"
When the instructions said to "select" the .chcfg file, I understood that to mean to have the file active in the editor. Confusingly, the "Generate Files from Configuration Data" button and menu item do appear when this is done, leading me to believe it was the correct action.
For the benefit of future victims users, is there any way to update the board config wizard plugin to run with the .chcfg file active in the editor as well? If not, then at least it would be nice to have a screenshot explaining exactly what "select" means in this context, in any documents or guides for the board config wizard.
Thank you again, steved and Giovanni, for the support.
Another possibility is to move the "Generate Files from Configuration Data" menu item to the right-click menu for .chcfg files. I don't know if that is possible in Eclipse. But this way, there would be only one direct way to activate this feature. There would be no ambiguity as to what is the correct way to select a file.
I have the exact same issue except that when I select (highlight) the board.chcfg file and click on "Generate files from Configuration Data" it still does nothing except popping up the console. I'm running the latest Win 11 version. I'm trying to configure a stm32f042k6 board.
What i tried: - Disable Windows Defender - Install JRE - Reinstall Chibistudio (Under C:\ with 7zip) - Generate a new board.chcfg file under New > Other > ChibiOS configuration wizzard for an STM32f4xx
Nothing worked and each time I checked if the board.h was edited but it wasn't.
Selecting the file and clicking on "Generate files from Configuration Data" pop up the console put nothing prints. If i don't select the file and I click on "Generate files from Configuration Data" while editing the file (so doing it the wrong way) it doesn't pop up the console, so it's seems that it's trying to do something but is blocked ?
Do you have any idea from where that could come from ?
Thanks for your quick answer ! It solved the problem ! I assumed that Eclipse came pre-updated but that was my bad, sorry for wasting your time on a small issue. The board gen script could be useful in case someone run into some other issues. Thanks for the great software
