Just specify arm-none-eabi-gdb without a path in the debug configuration.

Giovanni,
It doesn't work for me without a path, "Cannot run program "arm-none-eabi-gdb": Launching failed"
Only works when I point directly to it.

I hope it can get some features and quickly gain some ground over the opposition (CoIDE).
Maybe we could have
GCC ARM Embedded 4.7, which includes newlib-nano (smaller printf and memory allocation code... maybe some integration with ChibiOS mem manager?). This finally builds newlib with -fno-exception!

Hi,
The ARM components that I posted contains exactly that compiler, just embedded into an Eclipse plugin so you don't have to install it separately and mess with environment variables.
Haven't tried the nanolib yet, it sounds interesting.

Just tried using nano-lib with a simple demo and it made no difference at all to the code size; although a trawl through the map file revealed that the only function used from glibc was memset and I guess you can't do a lot with that...
What does have a significant affect though is changing the optimization from -O2 to -Os. That reduced the code size by a little over 11%, worth having on the smaller memory parts.

Great! Hopefully the newlib-nano is somewhere inside there.
If not, there's always the net to look:

To use newlib-nano you have to add:
to LDFLAGS. You can tell if it worked by looking in the map file, references to 'libc.a' will have changed to 'libc_s.a'

Looks like a good opportunity for a toggle button in the configurations

I installed SPC5 Studio and the sample project and compiling works....
However how Do I create a new ChibiOS project for the STM32F4 ?
When I select "File->New->C Project->Executable->ChibiOS/RT C Application a project is created, however it doesn't contain any skeleton files. Are the wizards coming up automagically or is there something wrong in my eclipse ?
Thanks
Michael

Hi,
You don't have to select "ChibiOS/RT C Project" but "SPC5 C Application" under "Makefile project".
The ChibiOS kind of project is a leftover in the ChibiOS plugin and will be removed, please follow the help regarding SPC5Studio, the wizard comes up when you open "configuration.xml" in the newly created project.

Ok, thanks. Been there already, This opens the SPC5 Application Configuration. Under Application Content there are two options "Structure" and "Graph" but when I select "Structure" ->"Exported Features" I can only add components like "com.example.xyz0". Am I expected to type something here or should there be a select box ???
Thanks
Michael
