Re: STM32f103VET6 Bootloader jump problem.
Post what you think could help on the forum, no guarantee, it is very out of scope of ChibiOS support.

This is linker script which I use. It is good, when the app works without bootloader and flash offset.
Code: Select all

Re: STM32f103VET6 Bootloader jump problem.
It work with bootloader when I change the size of RAM (from 64K to 60K) in ld script in app. But I don't know why. No idea.

Re: STM32f103VET6 Bootloader jump problem.
I found weird thing. When I increase main stack size or process stack size in linker script of chibios bootloader, then my bare metal application work good. So it indirectly depend on main stack size or process stack size in chibios booloader. Also I have to change ram size in app ld from 64k to 63k. Could anyone explain it and help me?

Re: STM32f103VET6 Bootloader jump problem.
Does your application re-initializes stacks? usually it is done by HW after reset but you need to re-initialize stacks in the application code.
The stack position is initialized by reading the value from the vectors table.

Re: STM32f103VET6 Bootloader jump problem.
Did you mean something like this?
I made this before jump in bootloader code.
But when I comment out function __set_MSP, it work good anyway (with modifications described by me above).
Code: Select all
/* set stack pointer as in application's vector table */
__set_MSP((u32) (ApplicationAddress[0]));
Jump_To_Application();I made this before jump in bootloader code.
But when I comment out function __set_MSP, it work good anyway (with modifications described by me above).

Re: STM32f103VET6 Bootloader jump problem.
I think I found the solution. In ChibiOS is used a dual stack mode. I my bare metal app I use only one stack. So I have to disable dual stack mode. In ResetHander from app I add this code:
And now all is working correct without any stacks problem.
I have a question. Is this a good way to disable dual stack mode?
Franek
Code: Select all
uint32_t reg;
/* CPU mode initialization. (disable dual stack mode)*/
reg = 0;
asm volatile ("msr CONTROL, %0" : : "r" (reg));
asm volatile ("isb");And now all is working correct without any stacks problem.
I have a question. Is this a good way to disable dual stack mode?

Re: STM32f103VET6 Bootloader jump problem.
Yes, it is. In general you should start the application in an after-reset-like state.

Re: STM32f103VET6 Bootloader jump problem.
Is there something else to bring to after-reset-like state?

Re: STM32f103VET6 Bootloader jump problem.
All peripherals used in the bootloader. If you want to be extra sure then you may reset peripherals after stopping drivers using RCC reset registers. There are also the function rccResetXXX().
In the core you should clear the state of NVIC and Systick.
