Using SysTick for other tasks when in tickless mode

Hello!
As i understand it tickless mode is not using the systick_handler or timer. This means that i could potentially use the systick timer myself without having to worry about breaking something in ChibiOS. If that is correct i was planning on implementing a systick handler with the highest prio that reads the PC of the system when the systick occured and prints it out over a serial port that would be dedicated to only serving this PC value, and only from the systick handler.
I was planning on trying some profiling of the system, including chibios functions.
Does this seem like it could work and in that case do anyone have any pointers on how to achieve this?
