Hello,
For my board I wanted to implement ChibiOs. I took the "RT-STM32F407-DISCOVERY" for first build and it compiled after a while. So far so good.
Last two missing pieces so far...advice is welcome.
FIRST:
For my board with an STM32F407VGTE (100pin LQFP) there are ports ranging from "A" to "E" on the chip.
But in XML of the board "RT-STM32F407-DISCOVERY", there are pin entries up until "GPIOI" ==> I-Port which does not exist.
Further, it complains with a red mark/white cross in project explorer on board.chcfg about an error.
When I look into the "Source" tab of board.chcfg file I see in "Problems" log below following errors:
Multiple annotations found at this line:
- Child elements are missing from element 'ports'.
The following elements are expected:
- GPIOJ
Error indicated by:
{the schema}
with code: [cvc-complex-type.2.4.b]
- cvc-complex-type.2.4.b: The content of element 'ports' is not complete. One of '{GPIOJ}' is
expected.
It is missing even more GPIOx definitions even though they do not exist for this CPU. I assume it is because of the XSD on top of file:
xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="http://www.chibios.org/xml/schema/boards/stm32f4xx_board.xsd">
==> Are there local XSD files available, adjusted for the chip package?
==> Why is it online? For people behind firewalls it is an unneeded problem.
SECOND:
There is also an error message with "gencfg" in the "template_path":
<configuration_settings>
<templates_path>resources/gencfg/processors/boards/stm32f4xx/templates</templates_path>
<output_path>..</output_path>
<hal_version>5.0.x</hal_version>
</configuration_settings>
Message: The word 'gencfg' is not correctly spelled
If I change two letters in the word "gencfg" to uppercase no error is shown. But, maybe this should not be uppercase, I suspect.
The "board_name" must also follow this two uppercase letters rule.
==> I cannot change the online XSD file.
What should I do?
Thanks

Hi,
You can safely ignore the problems, board files are generated correctly.
Missing J port: XSD violation but it is harmless.
About the number of ports, there are F4 models with more ports, the XSD is for all of them. If you look at board.c you can see that non-existing ports are not included nor touched.
I think "gencfg" is an error from the spell checker, it is not a valid English word.
About the schema location, it is online also but the ChibiOS plugin in ChibiStudio has local copies so the schemas are accessible even without being online.
Moving this topic in "bug reports" for fixing the J port thing.

Thanks for the response, so I add the J an K ports definitions and move on.
