STM32F407 + USB + ULPI Interface

Hello, I'm attempting to get high speed 480MBit USB running over the ULPI interface on an STM32F407 dev board. More specifically, the WaveShare 407I-C, http://www.wvshare.com/product/Open407I-C-Package-B.htm

As far as I can tell the USB code in the ChibiOS repo for the STM32F407 does not reference ULPI anywhere. I'm wondering if anyone else has gotten HS USB running over the ULPI interface or is possibly working on it? If not, perhaps I can pursue this and contribute the code back to the community?

Thoughts?

Thanks,
-Dave

Hi,

Correct, the current driver does not deal with ULPI, mainly because lack of HW supporting it. A patch would be great.

Dave,

Any luck with making a ULPI driver for the F407? I'm trying to do the same thing, get the F407 working with a USB330 board from Waveshare.

Hi,

There are patches here: http://sourceforge.net/p/chibios/bugs/377/?page=2

Not yet accepted but very complete.

Giovanni,

Thanks for the pointer! I will try it out!

By the way, what's needed to get the patch accepted? Is it the list on your last post here in the bug that tracks this patch?

Hi,

I asked few changes, then I have to find a way to support that code, I can't even test it.

Giovanni,

Ok, good to know about the changes. I'll look into that.

Re: testing, do you mean that you can't test it because you don't have hardware that has the USB ULPI? What if we sent you some hardware?

cheers

Hardware would help of course, the problem is to support the changes.

Giovanni,

If you had hardware available - what else would make the USB-ULPI changes easier to support?

I am just trying to get an idea about what's needed for everyone to be happy to accept the code!

cheers

The hardware would be enough, I just need to run the code before releases and after changes in the driver. Code not covered is subject to bit rot after a while.
