I just found that there are plugins, to make phpBB based forums work with Android and iOS App Tapatalk. Is there anybody else seeing potential for this within this forum?
To me this seems like a worthy usability improvement.
Please have a look at the tapatalk plugin at their page:

Keep it up!
Cheers

I thought about this myself a long while ago. However I never intended to do anything because I think that 90% of all posts are development related. This means that you need a sane development environment where you can test and paste code etc. Therefore your android device is a bit limiting, when you're on the road. And just for browsing, I guess the normal view in a normal sane mobile browser is more than enough.
Personally, I really don't think it's necessary, but this is just my personal opinion.

Hey tectu, thanks for the fast reply. Yeah, I hear those things a lot in development related forums, which is definitaley right. Sure, you don't want to apply code or recomended preferences and stuff beeing on the road with your mobile. On the other hand that's not the purpose of tapatalk, but just the quick read through. To me, I use it a lot beeing in the workshop and soldering stuff, having a look at the reply and get back in the office and hop on the IDE

As an extension I think it's really useful. Anyway, don't want to answer on any reply - never mind, just wanted to make that point.
Who else has an opinion?
Cheers

Hi,
This kind of posts are OK in this forum.
I will look into this, I also have to update the forum SW to the latest version. I am just worried about the downtime and possible problems that could arise.
I also would like to add that plugin that adds a [solved] tag to the posts, this would help me to not forget things

Sure, don't get me wrong. I really don't have anything against doing it. When it's there, I have the same problem with it when it's not there -> exactly none

The worries of Giovanni about issues and downtime I can fully understand. However an update would be required somewhen in the future anyways, I guess.

Backups are your friend!!!!
I always backup the databases and directory trees before updating we apps.
Too much chance for problems!!! I have the scars to prove it. ( healed a long
time ago thankfully... )

Nice, but not fair here. If you ever used Tapatalk on a phone or pad you never want to use the forum on these devices without it.

The best is the ALT text when hovering above the image on the original source:
"If I click 'no', I've probably given up on everything, so don't bother taking me to the page I was trying to go to. Just drop me on the homepage. Thanks."
