Hello,
I've been trying to find a place where I can get information on how to contribute code to this awesome project. My main interest in contributing to the hal and porting to different technologies. Would initiating a pull request on github be accepted?
Thanks,
Alex

Re: Contributing to ChibiOS/RT
Back the days we agreed that we create a community repo. I promised to maintain it but there never was any real interest at the end as the most stuff gets contributed through the contributions section of this forum. However, I don't really mind keeping track on this idea, I'll hook up some sync script so you can send a pull request later.
The idea is that community members push to there and if many users need/like the contributions, Giovanni can put it into the main repo.

So if I initiate a pull request on the community repo on github, it might end up in the main repository if there is enough interest?

In theory yes, that's correct. But at the end that's really up to Giovanni. Please make sure that you're aware of the copyright stuff when you're contributing.

Re: Contributing to ChibiOS/RT
Hi,
The best way is to post in the contributions forum. Contributions can go into the trunk under certain conditions the main ones: conformance to the coding rules, maintainability, I cannot make "official" something I can't maintain or provide support for. Keep in mind that the ChibiOS core is a commercial product made available also as open source.
Depending on the nature of the contribution you may decide to support it yourself, I would gladly open a specific section in the forum.
As Tectu mentioned there was an idea of an open repository but it did not took off. I will return on this idea in the future, after releasing the version 3.0.
