I2S Driver for 2.6.3 (STMF4-Discovery)

I am currently using the stable 2.6.3 version but in os\hal\src folder, I see no i2s.c file.

Does that mean i2s is currently not fully implemented in 2.6.3? I've seen examples of i2s written in 2.5.1 and on github, on chibios's branch, kernel_3_dev, in os\hal\src folder, there is i2s driver written. Which version of i2s driver should I use?

If I do want to use them, should I just download the files, put them in the corresponding folder and then include them to my project folder?

Hi,

I2S is not supported in 2.6.x, an experimental driver has been contributed but it will not be merged in the 2.6.x branch.

In 3.0.0 there is already an I2S implementation but it will not be backported to 2.6.x.

Where could I download the version 3.0.0? Is it branch kernel_3_dev on github?

On github, ChibiOS/RT's master branch has version 2.7.0 and it has i2s implementation. Which one should I choose?

2.7 will not be released, soon the new master will be 3.0.

Currently the 3.0 branch is kernel_3_dev.

Quick side question: after I download the files from the 3.0 branch, do I copy and replace the existing files in my 2.6.x to make it work? I guess there would be some nuances in function calls between versions so that my existing code in 2.6.x will cause a problem?

Soon there will be a 2.x->3.0 migration guide.

Make sure to use Makefiles and configuration files taken from 3.0, some function name changed but the functionalities are retained.
