Quick question, I'm writing code targeting the stmf0's Uart right now. can a base sequential stream be SPI based? (Can the shell target SPI peripheral?)

Hi,

No but you could implement a wrapper around the SPI driver. SPI does not implement that interface because it is synchronous and master-authoritative, meaning that you cannot receive anything if you don't transmit something.
