Hi, I'm busy with the finishing of a ChibiOS viewer. Will testing and learning the OS, I found some issues about naming tasks and debugging.
You can find it here:
http://www.emblocks.org/forum/viewtopic ... rt=9#p2261
Perhaps the solution presented there is something worth to use in further releases.
Cheers.

Re: Thread naming at creation
Hi,
I see the point, I will introduce it in ChibiOS 3.0 (current trunk).
About your viewer, are you exploring the thread structures using expressions and symbols, like the ecliple plugin does, or are you using the offsets provided by the registry?

Re: Thread naming at creation
Expressions and symbols like Eclipse.
I'm doing the same with the freeRTOS in the 2.0RC1.
As soon as this ChibiOS viewer is ready I will release the 2.0 release.
Edit:
EB has one big difference with Eclipse, Eclipse is evaluating all the separate fields of the thread structure (every field is a GDB query) while EB is querying the whole Thread structure at once and is parsing the fields from the GDB answer.
Eclipse: (Thread*)current->p_newer
EB: *((Thread*)current)

Interesting, I will make sure to give it a try once 2.0 is released.

Re: Thread naming at creation
The 2.0 is released.
For those who wanna give it a try, there is a blinky example for the F429I (discovery) in the examples download section of the EmBlocks site.
