Chibios 2.6 USB testHal and a lot of error

Post by lesto »

compiled the USB test from the github, the test runs fine (even "write", for what i can see, maybe i'll make up a little test in java to check after a lot of stress it works fine)

BUT when inserting the USB dmesg go crazy, here the log:

https://gist.github.com/MauroMombelli/3 ... b5d7722234

chibios 3 is even worse: it cannot even enumerate!

https://gist.github.com/MauroMombelli/5 ... 258700fa6c

any idea?

I don't get any of that on my PC, what I am supposed to do with those logs? you may try a windows PC and see if you get the same problem.

now i'm gint to try to compule with gcc 4.7 or similar, to see if it is something to do with newest compiler. i'll try the version boundled with chibios studios, if i managed to compile it.

The USB is working for a lot of people, do you have the drivers for the ST virtual com port? Windows requires those in order to enumerate.

point is it does not get to the driver, if you go to the setting panel on the "gestione periferiche" (forgot english terms, sorry) it does not tell you the VID and PID of the device, but insted gives this error.

i'm statring to thing is is really the compiler. Just rolled back to arm-none-eabi-gcc47-linaro-4.7_2014.06-1, lets see

Try to use the official ARM compiler instead.

arm-none-eabi-gcc47-linaro-4.7_2014.06-1 gives the same problem, chibios2.6 works, with some error, and chibios3.0 fail to enumerate, even on windows.

the 2 project have been cloned from zero from github, compiled and uploaded, with no edit (example TestHal), also i've cloned them in two different folder, to be sure i wasn't messing with branch or something else

i have to set up a win pc and thest chibios studio, to understand if i have the same problem there.

@mobyfab: found here https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/gcc- ... -eabi-bin/, i'll try as soon as i have time!

Linaro is the toolchain for cortex-A MPUs, not cortex-M.

it is tuned for A, but should work as clasic GCC for the other.

i've tested with official ARM gcc on linux and still got this problem. now i'm going to test it under windows using chibios. (still have to try if windows recognize it).
i'm planning to set up a fully working windows with chibistudio, and start debugging from here
