STM32F042 Support

Post by avrhack »

The new STM32F042 looks very interesting. Crystal-less USB, CAN, TSSOP20, wide range of peripherals. Looking through the existing F0 include files there's a special for the 030 (as well as the LD and MD parts) but I suspect the 042 is going to need quite a bit of hacking around to include support for it.

Have you spotted this one yet Giovanni? As far as I can see there are no physical devices yet but I'm keen to figure out how to get support for it into ChiBIOS so we can start to play with it as soon as it arrives :)

I will start with integrating the new headers, then we will have to wait for HW and OpenOCD support.

Actually I hadn't realised the STM32F072 has been out for ages and is very similar, but doesn't seem to have ChiBIOS support. This post viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1831&hilit=stm32f072 is quite old now and seems to be a request to support it.

I suspect looking at the specs that supporting the 072 and 042 will be pretty much the same deal.

I'm happy to help Giovanni if you can give me some pointers? I'll get the hardware sorted out and then we have something to test with at least for the 072......

Hi,

Let me integrate the headers first, then any help in testing/fixing/completing will be appreciated.

Hi,

The new headers are in place, the auto-synchronization remains to be implemented.

Wow that was fast! Was just about to start designing a little board to test with an 072 and an 042 (when they come available) but have realised there's a DISCOVERY board for the 072 already so I'll just order one of those ready for testing.......

If I may ask, what is the support status for the STM32F042? Is it fully supported now?

If so, can you use the USB HAL interface with it? (I noticed that the USB support was not check in the feature matrix but that this chip does support USB).

Thanks!

Hi,

The support is present in version 3.0 (the repository trunk), it supports also USB.
