I have to say that this is not going in the right direction. I'll second rambo and suggest bootstrap. It's quite easy to create a basic responsive design. One example (of the many) of people using it is Contiki. See here:

http://www.contiki-os.org/

Now try opening this page on your mobile/tablet!

Also a design like that can be made in one afternoon, really simple. And for those who know bootstrap and design well enough it's not that hard to create really great designs. Pages and more pages of examples here:

Hey utzig,
thanks for your reply.
That bootstrap seems awesome but consider that dokuwiki applies lot of optimization on css and js and seems to be very well done.
About test site, I haven't optimized images yet and I haven't fixed browser caching policies, furthermore I have to improve css design for mobiles...

anyway google seems not to be so happy about contiki-os.org and getbootstrap.com.

But I'm newbie with websites. Most likely I'm missing the point.
Can you help me to understand something more about why using bootstrap?

Marco, I guess you should focus on UX! Speed is not so relevant in this case, and even considering speed only, contiki-os still gets 65/100 while our new site gets only 55/100, and contiki-os issues are easier to fix. For UX on mobile, contiki-os gets 99/100 while we get 63/100! That's what I would consider more important to work on.

All bootstrap docs are here: http://getbootstrap.com/

Even if not optimized our page reaches 62/100 (not 55  )... I have planned to work on mobile-friendly policies when main functionality will be implemented (I think dokuwiki can reach good numbers on UX too). But I can ignore your convinced feedback so I will download bootstrap this week end and taking a look. Thanks alot!

Could you explain the problem? What is rambo supposed to fix?

Giovanni,

Rambo usually kills the bad guys, didn´t you see the documentaries? ;-)

Seriously, rambo is an user of the forum. Who´s supposed to fix something is bootstrap! It´s basically one of the many "modern" web design libraries out there. It will provided CSS classes for almost anything and you end up doing web development that way it´s supposed to be done: html for content, css for design. Much better than using tables for design! Also it is responsive, which means the design will "adapt" to the screen size, which can be seen by opening a web site on a table or mobile, and less so by simply redimensioning your browser window on your PC.

Cheers,

I got confused with names :)

I asked RoccoMarco to use dokuwiki because:
1) It does not required a database.
2) It is easy to use.
3) Last but not least, I already know it :)

About mobiles, is that really that important? I would not sacrifice usability on PCs to usability on mobiles.

@RoccoMarco, would be possible to make a normal blue? your last screen tends to purple. See the colors in the forum, I like them, or at least, I am used to them :)
