If I remember well F407 does not support SDRAM.

Likely. I have the IS61WV1024 on my STM32F40G-EVAL board. I thought it was DRAM but it must be SRAM then.

The commit in ChibiOS-contrib doesn't include a .mk for smartbuild.
Doesn't it need something like
