Okay, I can't find anywhere anything bad about http://www.quantasylum.com/content/Products/QA100.aspx so this will be it, I can order monday, so still some time to find something against it, this thing have so huge buffers, that works even for examining a real communication and the combination of the analog channels will give some insight on hardware issues with signals.

I have a zeroplus logic analyser, pretty happy about it (except it's purely windows).
First revisions where easy to hack to add 16 more channels and increased memory, but they changed their asic, so only updated memory is maybe possible (my 32k was unlocked to full 64k as the ram chip is the same). If you do so, you loose all purchased protocols.
I have seen recently that they give a lot more protocol for free. But anyway you have plugin interface to add your own.

I have used mine to debug USB issues, on a 8 bit ULPI interface at 60MHz, and it was working fine for this. I wont take any usb clock based ones, as 24MHz is too much limited, and nothing below 16 channels.

The only downside of all these analysers is the pretty puny trigger capabilities. I wish I can have the triggers and compression capabilities of my agilent at work (without the footprint...).

I eventually ended up (with a bit of purchasing help) getting Saleae Logic16. At first I though the fancy stuff in the software is all but useless, then got to love it, it is very touched, helped me tons. And since it is not a buffer based one, but rather streaming device, next version they are adding capability to log the communication, so I can have overnight communication logs to see when something goes wrong, very cool.

Found something interesting:

http://sigrok.org

It supports a lot of existing hardware already, including the logic cube. It would be a fun project to turn something like a discovery kit into a logic analyzer, DMA and timers could handle it up to 50-80MHz probably.
