Add ChibiOS/SB in ChibiOS Sub-Projects

Post by wolf »

Hello Giovanni.

What do you think of the idea adding a ChibiOS/SB discussion in Sub-Projects?

I have been tinkering a bit with the SB demo code and got it working - kind of.

This task is defintely more advanced than just adopting an RT demo to ones needs, as it includes handling several projects and a dedicates link strategy and project structure to get it running. The documentation on SB is (still) very basic. Interstingly Google-AI helped quite a bit in understanding and configuring a project.

Still the concept of SB ist very intersting for IoT and OTA in order to have a kind of bullet proof system where parts of the software can fail without compromising the application.

SB should definitely get more attention in the community.

Maybe a combined effort by the members could lead to more detailed "User Manual" for the main lines of ST controllers.

Best regards, Wolf

Hi,

The SB subsystem just recently reached a good usability status, created this sub-forum.

What is missing is a configuration tool that generates all the setup code and structures on the host side starting from and high level description of VMs and resources (XML-based probably), configuration is manual right now.

Make sure to look at the virtualized web server demo:
HV: RT-STM32H563ZI-NUCLEO144-SB_HOST_SWITCHED
VM1: SB-CLIENT-RT-XHAL-XSHELL
VM2: SB-CLIENT-RT-XHAL-LWIP-HTTP

3 RT instances running on the same core, runs on a normal H5 Nucleo144.

Sandboxes are fully functional in trunk, will be released officially as stable in 26.x.

Hello Giovanni.

Many thanks for creating the Sub-Project!

I don't have the hardware at hand to really run the project proposal, but will try to get it compiled for a start.

Regards, Wolf
