[RFC] Aging Platforms
Re: [RFC] Aging Platforms
I wouldn't have nightmares anymore and could finally sleep well again when Giovanni would move to git

this book looks pretty good http://git-scm.com/book and has (partially) Italian translation
Re: [RFC] Aging Platforms
I can confirm - This is the best git book I know. Afaik badger read the same.
Giovanni might wanna check out chapter 8.1 -> git svn

Re: [RFC] Aging Platforms
Should Giovanni spend his time learning a new revision control system, or writing code? It seems that if git has an interface to a subversion repository, then all the rest ought to be able to git to their heart's content already.
Besides, everyone knows that hg/Mercurial and emacs are clearly the correct choices.

Re: [RFC] Aging Platforms
Well, I gave it a try but it failed to interest me after the first 30 minutes of failed attempts to just get the repository started.
Mainly, I am still unable to see the added value over subversion.

Re: [RFC] Aging Platforms
Setting up the SSL keys and stuff.
Now it works but still I don't see advantages, I think I'll stay with SVN for the main repository.

Re: [RFC] Aging Platforms
Giovanni, the advantages come in when you develop in branches - it's really very natural thing to do in git.

Giovanni,
1) I have created mirror of svn repo https://sourceforge.net/p/chibiosgit and added you to admin group.
"Trunk" branch is called "master". It looks ugly and suitable only for experiments with git. I am not a git guru, probably Mabl can create
much nicer mirror.
2) https://sourceforge.net/p/upgrade?search=chibios can this automatically update chibios project to git with all history and bugtracker tickets?
