The STM32-E407 topic

Hi,

Tsvetan from Olimex sent me one of the two prototypes of the new board STM32-E407. Even if it is a prototype it is "final" and looks very good, no added wiring or other adjustments.

The board is very interesting, it has an STM32F407, on board Ethernet and the two OTG ports, everything else is available for experiments. It also has Arduino-like connectors, I will write a review.

I'd love to see some pictures and a review.

Do you have any other informations about pricing and release date?

The board should now be in production, no info about price.

I am studying the schematic and the board is really promising:

- No pin conflicts.
- Power protection.
- First step down converter from 6V-16V to 5V and second step down converter from 5V to 3.3V.
- Options to be powered via USB.
- SD connector connected to SDIO.
- Full JTAG port.
- Ethernet with external oscillator for the KS8721 PHY.
- Two full OTG ports.
- User button and user LED.
- Small board and clean layout

And this is the board:

Those are result of using 144 pin version, instead of 100 pin as in Discovery board

I committed an Ethernet-web demo for this board, so easy, not enough fun :-)

I think I will make it a fully integrated demo with lwIP/web/USB/shell/FatFS during next week.

This board's really very nice.

I fully agree with you Sir. With so elegantly and well-designed hardware, coding becomes boring sometimes boring :-( . I personally like to design the hardware of my circuits before coding. In fact, I even hand-soldered a LQFP STM32F105RCT6 on a veroboard to play around, until I stumbled across the Discovery boards!

Full demo finished :)

It includes:
- lwIP with web server on Ethernet port.
- Shell on USB-CDC.
- FatFs over SDIO (with card detection).

Everything happily running together in about 80KB, including 16KB of test suite code, still more than 900KB free.

I did, they claim to have the E407 ready within 2 weeks. Let's hope this is true :D

BTW: BOARD_NAME is wrong for the E407 board file.
