Hi,
I've started working on the linux version of ChibiStudio. About the tools, like openocd, would you like to include the sources (so people have to ./configure && make it) or do you feel that a static binary is better?
I'm not sure that static binaries will work on every machine, but, I guess, they should...

Re: ChibiStudio for linux
Static binaries should work, I use Eclipse and CodeSourcery compiler binaries.
I wonder if the workspace can be ported, most settings are there.

Re: ChibiStudio for linux
Project paths should be all relative to two variables CHIBIOS and CHIBISTUDIO that are defaulted to C:\ChibiStudio and C:\ChibiStudio\chibios. There should not be absolute paths, only those variables need to be changed.

Re: ChibiStudio for linux
I've updated those two variables in windows->preferencies->general->workspace->linked resources, but projects still point to c:\ChibiStudio, i'm attaching two screenshot.
Not sure I'm modifying the correct stuff...

Re: ChibiStudio for linux
If I look for "C:\ChibiStudio" in the workspace i get 266 references:
I really don't know how eclipse manages environment variables and paths, it looks weird
Code: Select all
tino@Dell:~/Desktop/ChibiStudio-linux/workspace$ grep -rn "C:/ChibiStudio" .metadata/.plugins/* | wc -l

Re: ChibiStudio for linux
In the distributed ChibiStudio I found "C:" in only two files, you could try to delete them and see if are regenerated or Eclipse re-launch.

Re: ChibiStudio for linux
Do you mean the "preview 2"?
If I extract the workspace folder from ChibiStudio_Preview2.7z and look for C:/Chibistudio I still find 200+ references, without any eclipse execution:
ps: they are in "hidden" folders so I have to specify where to search..

Re: ChibiStudio for linux
I've tried to find&replace every occurrence of C:/ChibiStudio with ${CHIBI_STUDIO}, the problem is that it seems the project location path is in a binary file:
so I'm still not able to open the demo projects. If I modify that entry by hand eclipse wont start at all.
BTW, I can import again all the projects and it will work, but if you move the workspace you have to do it again. And we would have different workspaces for windows and linux, not easy to mantain..
Code: Select all
Binary file .metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.core.resources/.projects/ARMCM4-STM32F407-DISCOVERY/.location matches
