Re: Drivers collection

mobyfab,
Thinking ahead a bit.
Can I suggest separating contributions into those useable with ChibiOS V2 (hal) and V3 (hal_osal).
If files are mixed in the same directories it will lead to confusion.

The short answer is that with gcc 4.8 LTO is a problem.
The most reliable results are achieved when LTO is set to no in Makefile.

Re: Chibios 3.0.0 gcc support

Giovanni,
I had a bit more of a look at this and found that for one modified version of the F103 demo I could compile with gcc-arm-none-eabi-4_8-2014q1 and LTO enabled and another failed. The difference was that the failing version included the TestThread. Placing the TestThread back in the ...

Re: Tick-less mode support for NilRTOS

Giovanni,
Should I raise a bug for this 16 bit counter issue seeing V3 has gone to trunk?

Re: Chibios 3.0.0 gcc support

I tried the bleeding edge toolchain 4.8.3 and it work with LTO apparently. It is also faster than the other compiler from launchpad.

Giovanni

That's interesting I just tried gcc-arm-none-eabi-4_8-140405 (Bleading Edge) on Ubuntu (using OS kernel 3.5.0-49-generic) and it behaves the same as gcc ...

Re: Chibios 3.0.0 gcc support

Badger,
Have a look at http://forum.chibios.org/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1867
There is a bug in gcc-arm-none-eabi-4_8. It can be used with LTO disabled.
I have noticed that code compiled withgcc-arm-none-eabi-4_8-2014q1 and LTO turned off is almost as small as gcc-arm-none-eabi-4 ...

Re: RT-STM32F407-DISCOVERY build error

Tectu,
I note that you are using gcc-arm-none-eabi-4_8-2014q1.
I have noticed that LTO appears to be a problem with V3 demos with this version on Linux. I have turned it off for now.
There does not appear to be an issues with gcc-arm-none-eabi-4_7-2013q3.
Haven't had time to look any closer.

In the SPI driver,
The "idle" words be configurable for spiIgnore() and spiStartIgnore() or a similar function added.
Preferably set on a per call basis or alternatively on a compile configuration basis.
The use for this is for efficently filling or clearing divices with many ram locations such as ...

Re: Possible compiler bug ?

OK, thanks to help from panacekcz, here is a summary of handling unsigned integers, in particular comparisons.
I hope it is a bit clearer than the above content. If there are any error please let us know.

Unlike many comments that "overflows" and "underflows" are handled automatically in C for ...
