Is it possible that the font is not installed correctly or something like that? Anyway I need a non-proportional font in that role, I thought courier new was pretty standard.

How does courier new 9 look?

It seems like it is a common problem, here's someone else with the same issue.

In size 9 it is just about legible!

So apparently it is an Eclipse issue. Are you using Eclipse Indigo or Helios? you may consider upgrading or downgrading and see if it makes a difference.

Hmm, I think that Eclipse is just somewhere where the problem manifests, but the actual problem is due to font rendering in OS X (seems to affect both Snow Leopard and Lion) as the font is rendered badly at that size in the included font util. If increasing font size is not easy to accommodate then probably the best work around is to just replace the font on Mac, I expect it represents a small market share anyway!

I just heard word that the netduino platform (Arduino-like board with an AT91SAM7X512), which relies on .NET (and hence Visual Studio) can create debug sessions seamlessly through the USB connection, without requiring a JTAG device.

It's probably too much work, as it would include making a USB bootloader, but how feasible is it to make something like that for Eclipse and ChibiOS?

For some ideas on what one gets with that platform, here's a review: http://basbrun.com/2011/02/21/netduino-plus-part-2/

Personally, I don't like all the dynamic stuff. The new operator in a microcontroller is usually bad news, and is probably one of the reasons why there's only 128KB of program space available in a 512KB chip.

Well, it may not even be possible to implement in software, because the AT91SAM7 has a Debug Unit which is not available in most platforms supported by ChibiOS, but it makes for interesting considerations.

Hi,

Probably that would be possible by implementing some kind of resident GDB server but JTAG/SWD probes are so cheap. Also there are boards that already include the JTAG onboard see the various ST Discovery kits and LPCXpressos. Another potential problem is that the resident debugger would crash together the application under test and that would make it of limited value.

I do have a JTAG probe, but it would be a good feature to have for on-the-field programming. Actually, even a simple USB bootloader would be a good addition.

Also, JTAG takes too many pins and the configuration is messy (I've written a tutorial for doing it on Eclipse, and it doesn't work always), and there aren't that many SWD probes around yet.

A bootloader would be possible (and it is being considered) but debugging through the bootloader is a very different thing.

It might be my loss, but where can I find that version for download?
The latest link that I can find to the jar is 1.0.1 on the first page
