fatfs with nand over SPI

Post by enrico.dallavia »

Hi,
I need to use external flash memory connected through SPI to an STM32F429. The nand flash memory is made by Spansion.

I found a very promising example inside the demo ARMCM3-STM32F103-FATFS of chibiOS 2.6.9, even if I'm using latest version 3.0.2.
Is the abstraction made from fats enough to use this memory (or is the way to control the memory through SPI the same for every memory? since the above manual is 141 pages long....)

Thanks.

This memory is not erasable in blocks of 512 bytes, so no.

Thanks. You save me a lot of time.
So "any" nand flash which supports erasable in blocks of 512 bytes is eligible to be used with fats?
