Eclipse workspaces are such a mess.
Probably the best option would be to create an Eclipse plugin that creates workspaces with all the settings we need reading them from an XML file or similar.

Re: ChibiStudio for linux
Also googling a little brings out that sharing workspaces is not a good idea...
I've no java programming experience at all, just going to pack a "static" ChibiStudio which defaults to /opt/ChibiStudio, importing projects by hand and trying to replicate the settings we have in the windows version, so it will be ready for Better Embedded. After that we can think about a smart way to manage this

Re: ChibiStudio for linux
I will be in Florence Sunday, there is no much time left. If it is ready we will have to distribute it directly there.
I prepared 40, ChibiOS branded
, pen drives containing ChibiStudio and various other goodies (tools, manuals etc), we could add it on those too.

Wow! Nice merchandising ;D
Going to prepare it right now, if I will not have particular problems I'll upload it on some ftp later today after a test installation on a fresh ubuntu here, to at least have a starting point for linux users...

Re: ChibiStudio for linux
I'm fighting with a java.lang.NullPointerException when I launch the debug (OpenOCD running).
If I start from your workspace, delete the projects, and import again it works.
If I start with a clean workspace, configuring the debugger in the same way (I've also tried to export/import the launch configuration) I see gdb connects to openocd, write the flash, but then I've this weird error with no more explanation....

Re: ChibiStudio for linux
Finally, everything is working. I've uploaded a tar.gz here:
ftp://ftp.elet.polimi.it/users/Martino. ... ew2.tar.gz
There are installation instructions in the readme file, it tooks just three steps: unzip, link to /opt (to get the preset workspace to work), and launch. The only additional step on some distributions is to install a UDEV rule to access USB programmers by non-root users (there is a note in the readme).
I've tested it on a fresh ubuntu installation, tomorrow I'll test on a linux mint distro. I've setup only the two STM32F4-DISCOVERY demos, the other ones are coming.
BTW, I was not able to enumerate the USB serial port on linux, that can be a problem for Better Embedded: do you had success with it?

Re: ChibiStudio for linux
Strange, the port enumerates and works on mu Ubuntu 10.10 (the discovery MEMS demo).

Re: ChibiStudio for linux
OK, I'll try to investigate that on my machine (ubuntu 12.04).
I've also noticed that openocd is _not_ statically linked also with --with-static, going to replace it with a "pseudo static" one which includes the shared libraries too..

Re: ChibiStudio for linux
Ok, USB shell is working. Actually I wasn't loading the correct binary.
The problem was originated by OpenOCD, which had as "working folder" ${project_loc}, and it loaded ./build/ch.bin.. so if I start it from one project and then switch to another project without relaunching OpenOCD it reloads the binary from the previous project. Now I launch OpenOCD with ${workspace_loc} as working directory, and the binary is loaded as ${project_path}/build/ch.bin, which is relative to the workspace.
Now, a new problem: this is for 32-bit architectures. For 64 bit you need different eclipse (or at least a 32-bit jvm). This is pretty annoying, I don't know if there is some way to avoid two separate packages...
Here the update ChibiStudio for linux (32-bit):
