Uhm, shouldn't the 32bits version work under the 64bits Linux, under windows apparently it does.
I don't have a 64bits OS to test on.

Re: ChibiStudio for linux
I've tried today with a linux mint 13 64bit, and eclipse didn't start.
I think you need a 32bit java VM (which should run on a 64bit machine, with some compatibility packages you generally have on 64bit systems), but if you have a 64bit java VM it will not run a 32bit eclipse (wasn't java introduced for portability? lol).
Some googling brings to the same suggestions, but I didn't try..

Re: ChibiStudio for linux
Hello tintio,
Thanks for your good work so far. I am very interested in a linux version of ChibiStudio.
I do run Arch Linux x86_64. Why don't you make two packages, a 32-bit and a 64-bit version. Would that be too much work?
Sadly, I don't have the time to actively contribute, but if you need anyone to test, I'm here.

Re: ChibiStudio for linux
Hi Tectu,
that would be the simplest solution to try but not the easiest to mantain (it actually doubles the work ;D).
A different workaround is to include a 32-bit JRE in the .tar.gz and specify that VM in eclipse.ini... not the best solution, but this would bring to a single package for both architectures. Do you think this would be too "dirty"?
Tomorrow I'll try to do that on a 64-bit machine to see if it actually works as expected.

Re: ChibiStudio for linux
For my personal opinion, I would find that this would be too dirty. But hey, it's java - a bit more of dirty-ness cannot make things worse
Keep me up to date, would be very interested.

Re: ChibiStudio for linux
We could put both 32 and 64 bits versions in the same package and make some kind of check in the launch script. I would duplicate ONLY the Eclipse executable, plugins and stuff should be portable.

Re: ChibiStudio for linux
I wasn't able to wait until tomorrow, I gave it a try right now on a 64-bit virtualbox machine.
Unfortunately it seems more complicated than just use the 64-bit executable, if I overwrite the eclipse binary with the 64-bit one i get the following error, which refers to a plugin:

Re: ChibiStudio for linux
There are some plugins containing binaries apparently, we could fix that by hot-swapping ./eclipse/plugins in the launch script. That dir could become a symbolic link to plugins_32 or plugins_64.
Not a big deal, the hard part is to maintain the workspace.
